Arizona DB charged on multiple drug-related felonies; no longer with team

Well then.

According to a City of Tucson news release, Arizona Wildcats safety Patrick Onwuasor has been charged with four felonies, three of which are drug related. The release states Onwuasor is facing charges of possession of a narcotic drug for sale, possession of marijuana for sale, possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony drug offense and possession of narcotics paraphernalia. He was arraigned Monday.

The charges reportedly stem from a home investigation in April. The release states police executed a search warrant in Onwuasor’s apartment after receiving said warrant from a separate home invasion in Beverly Hills, Calif.

A statement from Wildcats head coach Rich Rodriguez says he is aware of the situation and that Onwuasor has been removed from the program.

Onwuasor played in 12 games last season and had 36 tackles. He was expected to compete for a starting role as a sophomore this fall.
