At the moment, USC ahead of ‘Bama in Rivals recruiting rankings

Entering National Signing Day, it was thought that, depending on how things played out, USC could very well end Alabama’s dominance in the Rivals.com team recruiting rankings.

At the moment, the momentum is all on the side of the Men of Troy.

In the updated Rivals team rankings, USC has indeed leapfrogged Alabama as the No. 1 recruiting class. And it’s not really anything the Tide hasn’t done; rather, it’s all about what the Trojans have done, including landing twin five-star commitments within a span of about 10 minutes along with a couple of other four-star signings as well.

USC might actually be able to stretch that lead -- and perhaps put the mythical title in the bag -- as well as five-star cornerback Iman Marshall, considered by some as a Trojan lock, will announce his decision in the 4 p.m. ET hour.

What’s not clear is how the final rankings will shake out when the recruiting dust settles, although it’s looking decidedly USC. What is certain is that it’s a two-horse race as USC and Alabama are 316 and 284 points, respectively, ahead of No. 3 Florida State.

Below is a screen snap of the current Top 10, as of 3 p.m. ET:
