Boise State, Washington schedule home-and-home series

The last two years, Boise State has opened their seasons with Oregon and Virginia Tech. In the coming years, the Broncos have season openers scheduled against Georgia (2011), Michigan State (2012) and Ole Miss (2014).

Wednesday, Boise State announced yet another series against a school from a BcS conference.

According to a press release, the Broncos will open the 2013 and 2015 seasons against the Washington Huskies. The Huskies and Broncos will play the first game at a newly-renovated Husky Stadium to open the 2013 season, on Sept. 7, 2013. The UW will then travel to Boise for the return game on Sept. 19, 2015.

Both schools will exchange a game guarantee of $350,000.

“This is a natural series for the two schools,” BSU athletic director Gene Bleymaier said in a statement. “I know are fans will be excited about being able to see a quality opponent like Washington play on the Blue Turf, and I’m sure we will have a large contingent of fans making the trip to Seattle.”

“Historically, the Huskies at Husky Stadium have taken on great opponents,” Huskies coach Steve Sarkisian said. “And not just in the Pac-10 – now going to be the Pac-12 – but in the nonconference schedule, as well. Having the first game at Husky Stadium against Boise State is something special.”

The two schools have played once before , a 24-10 UW win at Husky Stadium in September of 2007.

All-time, Boise State is 5-11 against Pac-10/12 schools, but have won the last three meetings against the conference.
