Boom! Cordell Broadus commits to UCLA over Snoop Dogg’s Trojans

Snoop Dogg is a well-known fan of the USC Trojans. Today must be bittersweet after his son, Cordell Broadus, has committed to the UCLA Bruins.

One of the more notable recruits in the Class of 2015 happens to be the son of a rap God. The celebrity status Snoop Dogg bestows upon his son, Cordell Broadus, made Cordell an instant recruit to watch. But do not let that family status fool you into thinking Broadus is all hype and nothing else. He earned respect on the field and now he is heading to UCLA. Broadus announced his decision to commit to UCLA live on national TV Wednesday afternoon on National Signing Day.

His father’s fame certainly helps draw attention, but Broadus has established himself on the field with his own talent. The four-star recruit, according to Rivals, is the 27th top wide receiver in the nation and is the third-best overall recruit out of the state of Nevada. His high school football journey has been profiled on a mini-documentary produced by ESPN, and led him to play for Nevada powerhouse Bishop Gorman, where he was coached by current UNLV head coach Tony Sanchez.

The commitment of Broadus adds one more key storyline in the intense rivalry between USC and UCLA. Both Los Angeles schools have been having a terrific signing day, and each are pouring cement around the top two spots in the Pac-12 recruiting rankings as a result. UCLA has come on strong with the signing day announcements today, but USC has already tried locking down the top spot in the Pac-12.
