You hate to see a college football player see his playing days end this way. Unfortunately, it is sometimes the reality of the risk involved in playing college ball. SMU running back Daniel Gresham has been medically disqualified due to a bulging disk in his neck, bringing a close to his playing career according to reports out of Dallas Friday evening.
As reported by The Dallas Morning News, Gresham was expected to compete for some good playing time this fall as SMU looks to improve at every position across the field under new head coach Chad Morris. Gresham redshirted last season due to a late recruiting decision with the expectation he would be more prepared to jump into the offense starting this fall. That will no longer be the case as Greshman shifts his attention to a different long-term future.BREAKING: SMU RB Daniel Gresham is medically disqualified and his football career is over due to a bulging disk in his neck, per a source.

Gresham committed to Texas and then Louisville while still in high school. He ended up at SMU after Louisville head coach Bobby Petrino pulled away a scholarship offer in the Class of 2014. The timing of the scholarship news left Gresham with little time to evaluate more options as recruiting classes were filling up.
