Earlier Sunday, we noted a report coming out of the Bluegrass State that former Louisville and current Texas head coach
Charlie Strong might be
compelled to testify in the divorce proceedings involving a UofL trustee and his soon-to-be-former wife. The intimations included in the report as it relates to any potential relationship between Strong and the trustee’s wife compelled the Longhorns coach to release a statement, which appears below.
I was recently given information regarding a marital dispute between a couple I know in Louisville. I’m not party to their divorce and have received no court order in this case. I certainly respect the legal system, and if I do receive a court order, I will review it and respond then.
Since this is a legal case, it wouldn’t be appropriate for me to say anything further at this time.
I do want Longhorn fans and supporters to know that this will not affect my focus in any way. My number one priority is getting this team ready to compete at the highest level. We are doing that now and will continue to do so.
In the report that prompted Strong’s statement, the lawyer for the trustee is requesting Strong’s cell phones and cell phone bills from 2012 to the present -- Strong was the UofL head coach from 2010-13 -- as well as any and all correspondence between Strong and the trustee’s wife. Additionally, gifts allegedly given to Strong by the wife -- a Movado watch, clothing and other jewelry are mentioned -- have been requested by the trustee’s attorney.
Finally, the motion filed by the trustee’s attorney requests “Strong’s calendars from 2012 to present and all records of his air travel, including tickets and flight confirmations.”
