A name very familiar to Nebraska Nation is about set for a return to Lincoln if the reports are accurate.
While there’s nothing official yet from the school, the Lincoln Journal-Star is reporting that John Parrella is set to be named as the Cornhuskers’ new defensive line coach. An official announcement is expected at some point this week.
It appears that, after Mike Riley and Hank Hughes “parted ways” earlier this month, Riley set his sights on Parrella as the replacement.I’m told that Parrella was only coach offered the job. Top choice.

Parrella played for the Cornhuskers in the early nineties. He has a previous relationship with his new boss as well as, during what turned into a 12-year NFL career, Parella played for the San Diego Chargers while Riley was the NFL club’s head coach.
The past two seasons, Parella was an assistant at the Div. II level. This would be his first FBS job, let alone one at a Power Five program.
