Florida’s T.J. Lawrence plans to leave Gators, wants to transfer

University of Florida receiver T.J. Lawrence is planning to leave the program and transfer to another school to compete for more playing time.

The redshirt sophomore has not yet announced to where he will go, but it will likely be a school where he could make an immediate impact.

“He tried to move on last year and we talked him into (staying) because he’s a good kid and all that,” said head coach Urban Meyer. “I think he just wants to move on to get some playing time.”

Meyer’s lack of interest in the Lakeland, FL, native is said to have begun when Meyer found out Lawrence wasn’t, in fact, Tim Tebow.

It is also believed Lawrence’s departure will have little to no impact on Meyer’s apparently ever-decreasing heart issues. In two years with the Gators, Lawrence has recorded, count ‘em, zero catches and returned two kickoffs for 69 yards.
