Former Rutgers QB Mike Teel hired by alma mater as graduate assistant

Mike Teel, who quarterbacked Rutgers to its best season in program history, is heading back to New Jersey as a graduate assistant under Kyle Flood (via AP).

Teel will work with Rutgers’ wide receivers in his new role. He’s previously served on the coaching staffs of D-III Kean University and FCS level Wagner.

In four seasons with Rugers (2005-2008), Teel set program records for passing yards and touchdowns. In Teel’s three seasons as a starter, Rutgers won 27 games (including all three bowl games) and, in 2006, finished in the top 25 for the first time in 30 years. Rutgers’ No. 12 ranking in the final AP poll stands as the highest the program has ever finished a season.
