Earlier today, we noted a story about Tennessee giving a scholarship to Daniel Hood, who had been charged as a juvenile in the sexual assault on a 14-year-old relative. We also noted that the victim of the crime had a wrote a letter on behalf of Hood, urging Tennessee officials to admit him into the university. Now, the Knoxville News Sentinel has somehow (insert eye roll here) gotten its hands on the content of the letter. The letter reads, in part, “I know... Daniel on a personal level and believe that he has been very remorseful towards me. He is a very caring individual. We are now working on rebuilding our relationship. Hoping to become a family like before. He is becoming a very mature adult and will be a great asset to any college and to society as a whole."And, once again, I’ll reiterate: if the victim is at peace, it’s no business of ours. Regardless of how heinous the original crime may have been and continues to be.
