Hurt Locker will play Sat. versus Stanford

Bothered by a pair of injuries the past couple of weeks, Jake Locker gave a big thumbs up to his availability for this Saturday’s game with Stanford.

The Washington quarterback suffered an injury to his ribs in an Oct. 16 overtime win against Oregon State, and has been hampered by a thigh bruise as well. The injuries didn’t keep the senior out of this past weekend’s loss to Arizona, and they won’t keep him off the field against the Cardinal either.

“A little sore,’' Locker said according to the Seattle Times when describing his current status. “But I think it’ll be good to get out and run around a little bit today (at Monday’s practice). ... hopefully loosen up a little bit and get a chance to go out and run around and do some stuff (Monday). I’ll just take it day to day.”

While some may have been concerned that the injuries could force Locker out of action, Locker brushed off the dings as just a part of football.

“It’s football. It’s part of the game,” he said. “Everybody deals with it at some point in their career. It’s something that you kind of have to deal with, I guess. There’s not a whole lot you can do about it. Do your treatment and get as well as you can for Saturday.”
