Jimbo Fisher, wife separated, mediating ‘possible divorce’

Unfortunately, Steve Sarkisian isn’t the only high-profile FBS head coach dealing with significant personal strife this offseason.

The Tallahassee Democrat reported earlier this week that Florida State’s Jimbo Fisher, 49, and his wife, Candi, 46, have legally separated. “The couple are working with attorneys to mediate terms of a possible divorce,” the Democrat added.

(Writer’s note: Yes, I’ve seen the rumors. No, they won’t even be hinted at here. And, no, they won’t be tolerated in the comments section of this post, either.)

Fisher met the woman who would become his wife while serving as the starting quarterback at Samford in 1987.

The Fishers are the parents of two sons, Trey and Ethan. In August of 2011, Fisher and his wife announced that Ethan had been diagnosed with Fanconi Anemia, a rare and life-threatening blood disorder which leaves him extremely vulnerable to all types of cancers.

In response to the diagnosis, the Jimbo and Candi Fisher Kidz 1st Fund foundation was created to raise awareness and funding for their son’s disease.
