It’s Alabama week for LSU and tensions are naturally a tad high in Baton Rouge ahead of the biggest game of the season for the Tigers.
While everybody involved in the game understands the stakes of what happens on Saturday night, it appears some of the LSU players wanted to reinforce that after losing five straight to the Crimson Tide. According to 247Sports, star tailback Leonard Fournette was one of several players who called and led a players-only meeting with the team on Thursday.
“Those thing are great for team bonding. Doesn’t mean you win or you’re going to play better,” head coach Ed Orgeron said. “But every once in a while, if they feel like they need to have a meeting, I like it. Leadership comes forward.”
Offensive lineman Ethan Pocic and safety Jamal Adams also apparently spoke at the meeting.
Will it make all that much of a difference come Saturday night? Probably not, but it does underscore how seriously the Tigers are taking their upcoming game against the No. 1 team in the country this week.
Who knows, if LSU wins, maybe we’ll get to find out what Fournette and company ended up saying to the team prior to taking the field.
