Today’s the day, people. Today may be the day the Mack Brown era sets an expiration date. At the least, the discussion about what’s next will happen Friday, according to Chip Brown of Orangebloods.com.
Brown is expected to meet with Texas athletic director Steve Patterson and president Bill Powers at some point today to discuss his future in Austin. Most reports out there point to Brown stepping down or being ousted out after 16 years on the job, which included a streak of nine straight double-digit-win seasons and a national title.
Brown, speaking Thursday, said his “situation has not changed.”
Once Brown leaves his post, the Nick Saban-to-Texas rumors will begin swirling at ludicrous speed. So for now, enjoy the peace and quiet, because when this Brown decision hits it’ll be impossible to tune out the noise.
