Maryland happy in ACC; no contact with Big Ten

Earlier today, we noted a report from Teddy Greenstein of the Chicago Tribune which stated Maryland is a school who could be on the Big Ten’s expansion radar.

Just a short time ago, the university’s president granted what looked to be a brief interview with the Baltimore Sun in an attempt to diffuse the speculation.

“I haven’t heard anything from the Big Ten, and, to the best of my knowledge, Dr. (C.D. “Dan”) Mote (the university president) has not either,” A.D. Debbie Yow told the Sun.

“The Big Ten is a terrific conference, but Maryland is a charter member in 1953 of the ACC and we are happy in the ACC. These are deep roots.”

So, that’s that. For now.
