The beginning of the 2011 college football season is set to begin in just a couple of days, but unfortunately for Miami -- besides, you know, the whole Nevin Shapiro thing -- one of their players won’t be able to participate.
The Miami Herald writes this morning that tight end Cory White has been lost for the season due to a knee injury. White, a redshirt sophomore, was rarely used in the Hurricanes’ offense last season; he recorded one catch for no gain against Florida A&M.
Still, White’s absence is a blow to Miami’s tight end depth. USC transfer Blake Ayles is out for the season-opening game against Maryland. Additionally, defensive tackle Curtis Porter, defensive tackle Luther Robinson, defensive lineman Shayon Green and tackle Seantrel Henderson are all expected to miss at least some time this season.
