With Steven Threet transferring before spring practice, the depth chart at quarterback for the Michigan Wolverines was already extremely limited, with former walk-on Nick Sheridan the default incumbent and early enrollee freshman Tate Forcier taking the majority of snaps during spring ball. Now word comes that Sheridan has broken his leg, and was seen with crutches and a large black boot on his right leg last night. Michigan coach Rich Rodriguez and the Michigan athletic department refused to comment on the injury, but Rodriguez will speak to the media later today before practice.Michigan has hoped that Forcier can step in an play in Rodriguez’s spread offense this fall, but there are worries that physically he’ll be unable to withstand the pounding of the Big Ten and the role of the quarterback in the Wolverine offense. Now, at the very least, he’ll be taking the majority of snaps with Sheridan presumed to be out for the rest of spring practice.
