Minnesota’s Jerry Kill showed off his “Happy” dance at graduation

Minnesota head coach Jerry Kill announced recently he intends to return to coaching the Gophers from the sidelines in 2014. He even got a contract extension in February locking him into the position through 2018. Clearly, that is all great news for a coach who has battled episodes of epilepsy during his coaching career. This weekend Kill was a speaker at Minnesota’s commencement ceremony, and he wanted everyone to feel just as happy as he is to be head coach at Minnesota.

As he wrapped up his address to the graduating students, Kill asked for Pharrell’s popular tune “Happy” to be played over the speaker system, invited everyone to get out of their seats and let loose and clap their hands for a little bit.

This must be a thing in the Big Ten, because Wisconsin students were invited to jump around three-fourths of the way through a recent commencement service in Camp Randall Stadium as well. What’s next, Penn State graduates bouncing to “Zombie Nation” or Ohio State fans jumping in unison to “Seven Nation Army?”

Helmet sticker to Campus Union.
