Fortunately for the Clemson football program, a recent visit from the NCAA appears to be much ado about little.
Multiple media outlets reported this afternoon that the NCAA was on campus earlier this week to speak to two players. The Associated Press reports that the Clemson inquiry is unrelated to the one that has ensnared, thus far, North Carolina, South Carolina, Alabama and Georgia.
Joe Schad of ESPN.com tweeted that the players “were asked questions about items seen on their Facebook page.” The players were not named, and exactly what caught the NCAA’s eyes on their respective social networking sites is not known.
“The NCAA came to our campus earlier this week to speak to two of our student athletes in the sport of football,” athletic director Terry Don Phillips said in a statement. “We cooperated fully and answered all of their questions. We do not have reason for concern.”
