As much disdain as Jim Harbaugh has for pansy-ass skim milk, he may have a greater disdain for a particular color.
If you are unaware, the visiting locker rooms at Iowa’s Kinnick Stadium are painted in a bright shade of pink, a tradition started by Hayden Fry. The legendary former Hawkeyes head coach thought the color would put the visiting opposition in a “passive mood” when they took the field.
Fry’s explanation for the hue wouldn’t pass political correctness muster in this day and age, and it the color has led to some protests for being demeaning to women and homosexuals, but there was an old-school method behind his color madness.
“We hoped it would put our opponents in a passive mood,” Fry wrote in his 1999 autobiography “High Porch Picnic.” “Also, pink is often found in girls’ bedrooms, and because of that some consider it a sissy color.”
Ahead of Michigan’s road game against Iowa, the visiting locker rooms are still pink even as they have been renovated. Remembering how he hated the locker room as a player, Harbaugh the coach opted to have his football staff do something about the situation, no doubt with an enthusiasm unknown to mankind.Right at home. #GoBlue pic.twitter.com/LALu1eVlyd
