Given the fact that Urban Meyer has his plate full on the recruiting trail, as well as the economic crisis which is beginning to hit colleges all across the country, there have been no talks about a revamped deal between the Florida head coach and the university, the Orlando Sentinel is reporting.Meyer still has four years remaining on a six-year contract he signed following the Gator’s 2006 national championship. Since then, he’s added another BcS trophy to his resume’, which has led to the current speculation that the university will once again tweak his contract. The economy -- and the subsequent speculation and scrutiny that would follow bumping a football coach’s pay -- has Florida athletic director Jeremy Foley looking for a more “appropriate time” to address a re-do. That being said, it seems as though a reworking of Meyer’s contract is not that far down the road."All I know is what we do here is we’re always proactive with coaches and we always will be,” Foley told The Sentinel. “They are valuable members of our staff. You have coaches who have gotten increases here even if they don’t win a national championship."Meyer, who saw his pay jump from $2 million to $3.25 million following the first title, is currently the third-highest paid head coach in the SEC according to the paper, trailing LSU’s Les Miles and Alabama’s Nick Saban.Pete Carroll of USC is reportedly the highest paid coach in college football at $4.4 million.
