Like father like son, it appears.
Torii Hunter Jr., the son of former major leaguer Torii Hunter, has announced that he will forego a fifth season of football eligibility at Notre Dame in order to pursue a career in professional baseball. Hunter was a 23rd-round pick of the California Angels in the MLB draft earlier this year and signed with the organization in June, but remained focus on football for the 2016 season.

Hunter was Notre Dame’s leading returning receiver in 2016 after catching 28 passes for 363 yards and two touchdowns last year. A captain this season, Hunter was second on the team with 38 catches for 521 yards. A concussion and knee injury sidelined him for a total of three games in 2016.
