Old Dominion will officially become an FBS program in 2014, but secured a series with a big-time opponent on Thursday.
Old Dominion and Virginia Tech agreed to a four-game series, with games in Norfolk in 2022 and 2024 coupled with games in Blacksburg in 2023 and 2025. Old Dominion and Virginia Tech already agreed to a three-game series, with contests at Virginia Tech in 2017 and 2019 and a game at Old Dominion in 2018.
Beginning in 2014, Old Dominion will become part of Conference USA. Per the Virginian-Pilot’s Harry Minium, Old Dominion hopes to have either Virginia Tech or Virginia on its schedule every year.
It’s been a pretty good week for the Monarchs, who picked up their first win over an FBS team in beating Idaho, 58-39, at the Kibbie Dome on Saturday.
