And, yes, we’ve come to the part of the program where you can feel free to insert your SEC bakery shots, which may or may not include use words such as “cream puff”, “pastry” or “cupcake”.
Be that as it may, Ole Miss announced Monday a pair of additions to the football program’s 2013 schedule. Both of the one-off games will be played in Oxford, with the Rebels opening the season Aug. 31 against Idaho of the WAC, followed nearly three months later by a Nov. 16 date with the Sun Belt’s Troy Trojans.
Those dates will mark the first time the Rebels have faced either of the two schools on a football field.
For the time being at least, the games with Troy and Idaho complete Ole Miss’ 2013 non-conference schedule. Contests against Texas (in Austin) and Southeast Missouri (in Oxford) had previously been scheduled.
The addition of Ole Miss to its 2013 schedule also means Troy will face both SEC schools from the state of Mississippi that season as the Trojans will travel to Mississippi State Sept. 21 that year. And, if you’re anything like myself, I’m quite certain you’ll sleep better tonight -- or right now, for that matter -- knowing that.
