While Cody Hawkins is currently fretting over what big meanies in the media are doing to his poor father, he’s now going to have to shift his focus to guiding Colorado from the quarterback position for the remainder of the regular season.
According to the Boulder Daily Camera, starter Tyler Hansen suffered a ruptured spleen in the Buffaloes’ loss to Texas Tech and will miss the rest of the 2010 regular season.
Hansen remained hospitalized overnight, and could remain there for several days according to the paper. His spleen has not been removed, according to a school spokesperson, although he’s “not out of the woods yet on yet” on that front.
If Colorado were to become bowl eligible (chuckle), there’s a chance that Hansen could return for a postseason game.
(Eschewing the obvious “Hansen’s spleen is in better shape than Dan Hawkins’ coaching tenure” joke here.)
Many prayers go out to Hansen and his family, hoping that Hansen can come back sooner rather than later from this setback.
