Staus quo at the top of latest BcS standings

Florida, Alabama and Texas were 1-2-3 in the initial BcS rankings, and all three teams held serve in the latest rankings.

Behind them, though, there was a bit of shuffling going on.

Iowa went from No. 6 to No 4, while Cincinnati fell from No. 5 to No. 8. Even as Iowa pulled one out of their, you know, and Cincinnati cruised comfortably.

Boise State took the hardest tumble, falling from No. 4 to No. 7 and, in the process, lost their top-dog spot amongst the non-automatic qualifiers. TCU, on the strength of their crushing of then-No. 16 BYU, jumped from No. 8 to No. 6 and are now in control of their BcS destiny amongst the NAQs.

Southern Cal also received a good bump, moving from No. 7 to No. 5.

LSU is sitting at a seemingly distant No. 9 right now, and yet they control their own destiny more so than any school other than Texas behind the top two.

If the Bayou Bengals win out, with a game remaining against Alabama Nov. 7 and a likely showdown with Florida in the SEC title game, they would be one half of the title equation. Of course, that’s all predicated on all three teams winning every game up to their appointed dates.
