This Bud’s for Pitt? Hokies DC interviews for coaching vacancy

You can “officially” add Bud Foster‘s name to a growing list of candidates for the head-coaching vacancy at Pittsburgh.

A member of Frank Beamer‘s Virginia Tech coaching staff confirmed to the Washington Post that the Hokies defensive coordinator interviewed for the job with the Panthers. The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette had previously reported that Foster had already spoken to the school.

“He made me aware that they had contacted him. I kind of let Bud do his thing there, and he’ll tell me as he sees fit,” secondary coach Torrian Gray said. “I just know that he went on the interview. Really, I didn’t hear it from Bud. Another coach made me aware of it.”

Foster just completed his 24th season at Tech, the last 15 spent as coordinator.

Penn State defensive coordinator Tom Bradley, Alabama associate head coach Sal Sunseri, Wisconsin offensive coordinator Paul Chryst and Tulsa head coach Todd Graham have all reportedly interviewed or will interview for the vacancy. Chryst is reportedly out of the running for the job, while Graham has interviewed twice CFT has confirmed.

Additionally, Stanford assistant Greg Roman and former Florida defensive coordinator Teryl Austin are slated to interview tomorrow.
