Tulane football’s loss will serve as Tulane track & field’s gain.
In a statement, Devon Breaux announced that he will not be returning to play football for the Green Wave in 2016. Instead, the wide receiver will focus on his track career at the school.
Last year, Breaux was the AAC’s men’s long jump champion.I give all the glory to God. It’s kind of a win-win situation. The glory goes up to Him and the blessings fall down on me. He has blessed me with the opportunity to play College Football for 4 years at Tulane University.
“I want to announce that I’ll be graduating this semester & I will not be returning to play football next year. I will be pursuing my Track & Field career for the next two years and I want to thank God, my family, teammates, friends & fans for supporting my decision. I wish nothing but the best to Coach Fritz & his staff for the upcoming season. #WideOuts4Life
Breaux started 12 games during his time at Tulane, including eight this past season. He was second on the team in receiving yards (431) and third in receptions (25). His 17.2 yards per reception led the Green Wave, while his three receiving touchdowns were tied for second-most.
This is the second key piece of Tulane’s passing attack to announce a departure since the run-heavy Willie Fritz was announced as the team’s new head coach. Yesterday, starting quarterback Tanner Lee confirmed his decision to transfer.
