For the first time in the history of the two schools, UCLA and Rutgers will face each other on the football field, the Bruins announced in a press release this afternoon.
Rutgers will host UCLA in the season opener on September 1, 2016, while the Bruins will host the Scarlet Knights the following season on September 2.
“We feel this will be an exciting West Coast-East Coast matchup. Rutgers is one of the top programs in the Big East Conference,” said UCLA Athletic Director Dan Guerrero in a statement. “The game will give our alumni in that area a chance to see the Bruins in person and should provide us with some outstanding East Coast exposure.”
UCLA also has non-conference games scheduled in 2016 with UNLV and Nevada.
