UConn player popped for (shock!) laptop larceny

Just a couple of days after the “Days Without an Arrest” ticker had reached double digits for just the third time in the past two years, a UConn player has come to the rescue and set the meter back to double zeros.

According to the school’s student newspaper, defensive end Marcus Campbell was arrested Monday morning and charged with fifth-degree larceny. The paper writes that Campbell had a warrant out for his arrest stemming from the theft of a backpack containing a laptop (insert Newton/Masoli golf clap here) and other goods valued at $825. The incident allegedly occurred Sept. 29.

Campbell, who was already sidelined with a season-ending injury, was suspended indefinitely by head coach Randy Edsall Nov. 3 for unspecified violations of team policies.

While it’s uncertain that the suspension was related to the legal “issue” Campbell is currently working his way through, but it doesn’t take a rocket surgeon to figure out that, yeah, the two are connected.
