USC deletes video, apologizes after voice is heard bashing a Tennessee recruit

USC has deleted and apologized for a brief Instagram video that featured background audio -- presumably of a Trojan coach -- criticizing a recruit headed to Tennessee.

The deleted video from National Signing Day showed the name of Trojan recruit Lamont Simmons being added to USC’s list of signees, while a voice was heard off-camera saying: “Jalen Hurd is so soft and terrible. I don’t know why he (unintelligible).”

Hurd, a 6-foot-3, 230-pound running back, was rated a 5-star by Rivals.com and offered by dozens of schools.

Making things a bit more intriguing, Volunteer fans are speculating that the voice was that of famed UT quarterback Tee Martin, now an assistant at USC.

The Vols and Trojans don’t play anytime soon, but Hurd should still have plenty of motivation to prove his mystery detractor wrong in the seasons to come.
