Vandy starter to miss extended period of time

Vanderbilt has lost starting defensive end Steven Stone for up to six weeks due to a broken foot, the Tennessean is reporting.

Stone broke the foot Monday during what the paper described as a routine play. He apparently stepped awkwardly and broke a bone on the play. There was no indication that he had landed on a teammate’s foot or anything of that nature.

The senior was wearing a protective boot and walking on crutches.

Last year, Stone was the co-leader in sacks with five. He started every game the last two seasons.
