Unfortunately, the “Days Without An Arrest” ticker has been reset with what appears to be a very serious incident involving a member of the West Virginia football program.
According to the Charleston Daily Mail, Mountaineers linebacker d’Vante Henry was arrested Wednesday night and charged with second-degree sexual assault. As of this posting, Henry remains in the the North Central Regional Jail in lieu of a $100,000 bond.
There were no details as to what led to the arrest and charges available.
While WVU has not yet commented on Henry’s arrest, the player’s name is no longer listed on the team’s online roster.
Henry was a highly-touted JUCO signee earlier this year and was expected to make an impact immediately on the Mountaineers’ defense. Instead, personal issues sidelined Henry for summer camp, leading to him taking a redshirt for his first season in Morgantown.

UPDATED 8:12 a.m. ET: Head coach Dana Holgorsen announced in a statement a short time ago that Henry has been dismissed from the football program. Holgorsen also acknowledged that Henry had been serving an indefinite suspension at the time of his arrest, which led to a quick trigger on the dismissal.
