Davon Reed was waived by the Lakers on Sunday to make room for Tristan Thompson and Shaquille Harrison.
Reed was acquired in the Thomas Bryant trade with Denver, but he hardly played for the Lakers. He wasn’t going to play in the playoffs, so this isn’t a surprising move.

  • NBA Shooting Guard #9
Davon Reed has been traded to the Lakers along with three second round picks in exchange for Thomas Bryant, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.
Reed is a salary-filler to get this deal done. Reed has played sparingly for the Nuggets this season, and there isn’t much room for him to find minutes for the Lakers, especially with the trades they’ve made. The second-round picks in 2025, 2026 and 2029 are the headliners here for the Lakers.

  • Kentavious Caldwell-Pope (right wrist sprain) is questionable for Tuesday’s game against the Mavericks.
Caldwell-Pope’s impact has been muted over Denver’s last five games, with the veteran guard 6.8 points, 0.6 rebounds, 1.2 assists, 1.0 steals, 0.4 blocks, and 1.0 3-pointers in 28.0 minutes. Simply put, he should not be rostered in most fantasy leagues. If he’s unable to play Tuesday night, Davon Reed is the player most likely to move into the starting lineup, and he is not worth streaming.

  • MIN Guard #8
Bones Hyland (non-covid illness) practiced on Sunday and could play against the Rockets on Monday.
Hyland is officially listed as questionable for Monday’s game. Ish Smith and Davon Reed have been playing increased roles lately, but if Bones returns, they’ll likely be pushed back to minimal minutes. It could be another game, but that doesn’t make either guy worth streaming.

  • DEN Guard-Forward #11
Bruce Brown accumulated eight points (4-of-7 FGs), four rebounds, four assists, and one steal in Friday’s 114-104 win over the Clippers.
With Michael Porter Jr. (heel) out for a second consecutive game, Brown remained in the starting lineup while Davon Reed returned to the bench. Brown’s line wasn’t his best, as a run of seven straight games scoring in double figures ended, but he did account for four assists. Brown has been a top-50 player in 9-cat formats over the last two weeks, with Nikola Jokic being the other Nugget who can make that claim. As for Reed, he played 20 minutes Friday night, finishing with seven points, four rebounds, and one 3-pointer. While Reed shouldn’t be rostered in fantasy leagues, Brown is at a point where his percentage (56% Yahoo) is too low, given the Nuggets’ injury issues.

  • BKN Forward #17
Michael Porter Jr. (left heel contusion) is out for Friday’s game against the Clippers.
Porter will miss a second straight game, likely meaning another start for Davon Reed. Reed didn’t play well in Wednesday’s overtime win over the Thunder, and the fantasy upside isn’t there. Fantasy managers should leave him on the waiver wire.

Michael Porter Jr. (left heel contusion) is questionable for Friday’s game against the Clippers.
Porter did not play in Wednesday’s win over the Thunder, with Davon Reed taking his place in the starting lineup. Reed played 25 minutes and did not repay the faith that any fantasy managers may have placed in him, shooting 0-of-7 from the field and finishing with a stat line of zero points, three rebounds, and two assists. Even if MPJ doesn’t play on Friday, leave Reed on the waiver wire.

  • BKN Forward #17
Michael Porter Jr. (left heel contusion) is out for Wednesday’s game against the Thunder.
Porter will not be available Wednesday night, and his place in the starting lineup will be filled by Davon Reed. Reed isn’t worth streaming in most leagues, as Aaron Gordon and Nikola Jokic are available and starting.

  • MIN Guard #8
Bones Hyland (non-COVID illness) played just nine minutes in Tuesday’s 110-108 loss to the Pistons, scoring two points on 1-of-5 shooting.
Hyland was dealing with a sore left hip ahead of Tuesday’s game, but it was an illness that led to his not returning after halftime. The second-year guard was considered questionable for the second half, but the Nuggets went with Davon Reed (two rebounds in eight minutes) instead. Denver visits the Thunder Wednesday night, and it is unknown if Hyland will make the trip to Oklahoma City.

  • MIN Guard #8
Bones Hyland (left hip strain) is out for Thursday’s game against the Thunder.
Hyland remains sidelined for at least one more game, and his absence frees up a few more minutes for fellow reserve Davon Reed. While dependable in his role, Reed would not be worth streaming for Thursday’s light slate.
