Dolphins agreed to terms with No. 250 overall pick DB Don Jones on a four-year contract.
The fifth-to-last pick of the draft, Jones is expected to make the switch from safety to corner. A top-shelf athlete (4.40 40-yard dash, 42-inch vertical leap), Jones will fight for a spot on special teams, but is likely ticketed for the practice squad.

Dolphins selected Arkansas State S Don Jones with the No. 250 overall pick.
Jones (5-foot-11 1/8, 191) was a Combine snub whose draft stock skyrocketed when he ran forty times of 4.40 and 4.42 with a 42-inch vertical at Arkansas State’s Pro Day. He did 17 reps on the bench. He also visited the Dolphins during the pre-draft process.

The Dolphins will move seventh-round S Don Jones to cornerback.
They’re projecting him as a slot corner. An Arkansas State alum, 5-foot-11, 191-pound Jones ran forty times of 4.40 and 4.42 at his Pro Day, also leaping 42" vertically. He’s a great athlete, but will have to pay dues on special teams.

    Browns waived S Don Jones.
Practice squad TE Connor Hamlett will absorb his roster spot. The former seventh-round pick had been working exclusively on special teams.

49ers signed CB Don Jones, formerly of the Texans, to a two-year contract.
A 2013 seventh-rounder, Jones appeared in 13 games between the Browns and Texans last season. He’s a special teamer. Even in talent-barren San Francisco, he’ll have to fight for one of the team’s final spots on the 53-man roster.

Dolphins reinstated S Don Jones from his indefinite suspension.
Jones was suspended eight days ago after making homophobic comments when the Rams selected Michael Sam in the seventh round of the draft. He underwent sensitivity training and is now back with the team. Jones isn’t much more than a special teams player, so his roster chances likely took a hit.

Dolphins GM Dennis Hickey said there’s no timetable for suspended DB Don Jones’ return to team activities.
“We’re still working through that,” Hickey said. Jones is reportedly undergoing sensitivity training. Already on the roster bubble, Jones did his chances a great disservice with his comments about Michael Sam.

Dolphins suspended DB Don Jones for making insensitive remarks on Twitter after Michael Sam was drafted by the Rams on Saturday.
Per Miami Herald reporter Adam Beasley, Jones has been suspended from team activities. Jones tweeted “OMG” and “horrible” after Sam was shown on ESPN kissing his boyfriend. “I was made aware of it and I was disappointed in those comments,” Dolphins GM Dennis Hickey said Saturday night. “That’s not what we stand for as an organization.” Jones’ comments came at a particularly sensitive time for the Dolphins, just months after the Jonathan Martin-Richie Incognito saga that embarrassed the franchise. Jones will reportedly be away from the team until he undergoes “sensitivity training.”

Dolphins waived S Don Jones, WR Damarr Aultman, DT Deandre Coleman, LB James Davidson, DE Emmanuel Dieke, WR Cobi Hamilton, OT Donald Hawkins, LB Mike Hull, DT Anthony Johnson, G/T Michael Liedtke, LB Jeff Luc, TE Tim Semisch, S Cedric Thompson, LB Jordan Tripp and OT Aundrey Walker.
WR Christion Jones was waived/injured. The Dolphins previously cut loose K Caleb Sturgis and QB Josh Freeman.

    Patriots waived S Don Jones.
Jones is mostly a special teamer, but a good one. He’ll likely land on his feet. The Patriots deemed him expendable as Jones was their No. 6 safety.
