MLB DFS Stacks: Full Game Stack Edition

There are many individual strategies for stacking full games throughout all daily fantasy sports including NBA & NFL shoot-out theories, NHL PP lines, MMA main events, PGA tee times, etc. Stacking is an art and very lucrative when used properly. With that said, throughout my time playing daily fantasy, I’ve noticed that many people are uncomfortable with / rarely invest in full game stacks for MLB DFS. Not sure why. I am a firm believer that investing in full game stacks is a viable strategy for not just batters but pitchers too! Tonight’s write-up is dedicated to a few particular full-game stacks that I believe can be very lucrative (if played properly) on tonight’s 14-game MLB daily fantasy slate.

CASH STACKS

New York Yankees & Washington Nationals (Full Game Stack)

Tonight, the Yankees face off against Patrick Corbin and the Washington Nationals at Yankee Stadium. Corbin has an 8.10 ERA so far this season while New York’s SP Jameson Taillon has a 5.24 ERA. These two starting pitchers have allowed a combined 12 home runs on the year. Corbin has allowed seven total home runs, all to opposing right-handed batters. While Taillon has allowed five home runs (three to opposing left-handed batters and two to opposing right-handed batters). Taillon is allowing a .317 BA opposing lefties so if you’re stacking against Taillon left-handed power is where you should be looking. If you’re stacking against Corbin, the goal is clear. Washington’s lefty has allowed seven home runs and a .319 BA to opposing right-handed batters. The New York (R) batters will be a very popular daily fantasy investment tonight. It’s important to try and get a little different within the stack. What do I mean by this? For example, invest in the backend of the lineup (6,7,8,9 batters), Fade Stanton/Judge, or go to a five-man stack (DraftKings only) but trust me have the guts to not do the typical stacks you’ll see for the Yankees which will be: (1) DJ LeMahieu (2) Giancarlo Stanton, (3) Aaron Judge, and (4) Gleyber Torres. Hick is next batting 5th. You get what I am saying though, try to form your Yankees stack different from everyone else. My first suggestion is to fade Judge. The guy is either extremely due or not seeing the ball well at all. He is batting 0 for his last nine at-bats. Both pitchers have been struggling in a big way and playing on a hot day in Yankee Stadium will not help their cause. A strategy that I think is worth imploring today would be to stack this game in as many ways as you see fit while rotating different pitchers in hopes of covering as many angles as possible assuming that this is a high-scoring home run derby, which I believe that it will be.

Other cash stacks: Minnesota Twins vs. Detroit Tigers (full game stack viable)

GPP STACKS

Boston Red Sox vs. Baltimore Orioles (Full Game Stack)

Monitor weather in Baltimore, Maryland - PPD risk

Matt Harvey will see Boston for the second time this season tonight. In his first matchup on April 8th, the first start of his season, he lasted five innings allowing seven hits and four earned runs with one homerun totaling 8.5 DK FP. Now that the Red Sox have seen what Harvey has to offer, I do believe Boston will tee off against Harvey and a Baltimore Orioles bullpen (despite being fully rested after Means’ no-hitter). Harvey has had one game that I would label as impressive and the rest have been very mediocre. He has not allowed many home runs this season. In fact, he’s only allowed two total. I wouldn’t be surprised if that statistic keeps people from investing in the Red Sox tonight, but for me, this stat makes me like the Red Sox more! The Sox are the first team to have seen Harvey for the second time this season. I expect the Sox to adjust and really beat up the 32-year-old vet. The Red Sox have seen Harvey in 55 prior at-bats. Combined they have a .327 BA with just one home run by Rafael Devers. Harvey has struck out 16 Red Sox over these 55 at-bats which is high, so investing in Matt Harvey for some hedge lineups is a viable move as well. Pointsbet.com has the Red Sox favored by -150 with an 8.5 O/U. The O/U seems low to me all things considered. I am expecting this to be a close but high-scoring matchup that will total OVER 10.0 points. The Boston Red Sox are currently leading the league with a .267 team batting average over 1,085 at-bats. The Orioles are coming off of a John Means no-hitter, meaning their bullpen is as rested as it’s ever going to be. On the flip side, Baltimore is facing Eduardo Rodriguez who has a 4.18 ERA allowing five home runs so far this season. Rodriguez allows a .259 batting average to opposing right-handed batters. All five of his allowed home runs this season were against opposing righties. This is another game stack situation that is completely viable. Baltimore’s core (1-5) batters, as well as Boston’s right-handed batters, are all in play tonight over in Camden Yards.

Other GPP stacks: Atlanta Braves vs. Philadelphia Phillies (full game stack viable)
