Dropping off: Jason Vosler (55th)
- Ke’Bryan Hayes’ biggest fantasy contribution this year has been his six steals, but it still seems like the power is going to come. His exit velocity numbers are quite good, as he’s already amassed 10 barrels with a 49% hard-hit rate. He’s also doing a better job of keeping the ball off the ground this year, though more of his well-hit balls have been liners than flies. I’m keeping him in the top eight here, even though I do ding him for his lack of lineup support.
- Matt Chapman still can’t seem to get untracked, even as he’s hitting the ball about as hard as ever and striking out considerably less than he did the last two years. Statcast currently has him with an xBA of .248 and an xSLG of .494, compared to his actual marks of .200 and .356, respectively. I don’t expect him to bat better than .230 the rest of the way, but the power numbers are due to improve.
- I’m hoping the Mets give J.D. Davis a crack at the DH job on a full-time basis after sending down Dominic Smith. Davis is hitting just .221/.322/.338 in 90 plate appearances this year, but his exit velocity numbers are outstanding. In fact, his 64.2% hard-hit rate is the best in the majors for anyone with as many plate appearances (Yordan Alvarez and Aaron Judge are the other two over 60%). Davis will strike out too much to put up All-Star-type numbers, but he could quickly become an asset in mixed leagues if the Mets start him and leave him alone.
