Ryan Feltner turns in quality start against Boston

A week ago, Gonzalez was hitting .163 and seemed like a lock to be sent down to the minors once Munetaka Murakami came off the IL, if not before. However, his last six games have seen him go 11-for-24 with four doubles, a homer and 12 RBI, putting him at .260/.340/.397 in 82 plate appearances overall. He’s still not promised anything, but given that he can play anywhere in the infield, he now certainly has a chance of sticking around once Murakami comes back.

Fedde won for the second time in nine starts and third time overall in 17 appearances for the White Sox this season. He’s been adequate in posting a 4.41 ERA in spite of a 53/33 K/BB through 79 2/3 innings. The White Sox might be able to do better at some point, but they’ll stick with him for now and have him face the Guardians, perhaps behind a left-handed opener, on Sunday.

Schweitzer’s first outing since being recalled on Saturday was his longest in five major league appearances and 19 outings in Triple-A this season. He gave up four hits, walked none and struck out three while throwing 46 pitches, 36 of which were strikes. His reward is probably going to be a demotion, since the White Sox need to activate Noah Schultz from the IL on Wednesday, but at least he helped his stock some tonight.

Gibson gave up two homers, five other hits and six walks in his worst outing to date. Since being recalled on June 8, he’s allowed 22 runs in 20 2/3 innings, with the Orioles losing all five of his starts. One would think he’ll be sent down after this to make room for the returning Dean Kremer.

The White Sox might actually be able to get out from under some of Benintendi’s contract this summer if this keeps up. He’s hit .284/.360/.597 in June to improve to .247/.302/.443 overall. That he has no real defensive value is a problem, so the White Sox will certainly have to pay down a part of the $14.5 million he’s owed in the final year of his deal next season. Still, things are looking up from where they were a couple of months ago, when it seemed the team might be best served by just releasing him.

Sanoja knocked a base hit and scored a run in the second inning, then took Tanner Gordon deep for a three-run blast in the third to extend the Miami lead. He later added another single and a run scored in the seventh. The 23-year-old super-utility man is hitting .275/.312/.404 with three homers, 19 runs scored, 32 RBI and five steals across 206 plate appearances.

Mack took John Brebbia deep for a two-run blast in the seventh inning, capping off a red-hot June in which he slugged all five of his homers while hitting .294. The 23-year-old backstop is hitting .250/.308/.402 with 21 runs scored and 21 RBI across 145 plate appearances.

Moniak put the Rockies on the board with a solo home run off Eury Pérez in the first inning. He later drew a walk in the sixth. The home run snapped a three-game hitless streak for the 28-year-old outfielder. He’s up to 13 on the season with 32 RBI while hitting .260/.314/.561 across 188 plate appearances.

Pérez served up a solo homer to Mickey Moniak in the first inning. He settled in nicely, holding the Rockies without another run into the sixth, scattering one more hit and four walks. Pérez generated an impressive 19 whiffs to strike out eight batters. The 23-year-old right-hander hasn’t missed a beat in his two starts off the injured list, giving up just one run in each. He’ll take a 4.21 ERA, 1.21 WHIP, and an 81/32 K/BB ratio across 72 2/3 innings into a start against the Athletics in Sacramento on Sunday.

The Marlins brought a run across to score in the first inning on two hits. Two more hits plated a second run in the second inning. Gordon gave up three more in the third on a three-run blast by Javier Sanoja. Gordon gave the Rockies two more scoreless frames before departing at 74 pitches through five innings. The 28-year-old right-hander will take a 6.69 ERA, 1.59 WHIP, and a 39/8 K/BB ratio across 40 1/3 innings into a start against the Giants in Colorado on Sunday.
