Ranger Suarez fanned nine while allowing three runs — two earned — in six innings Wednesday against the Rockies.
This could have been six or maybe seven scoreless innings with better defense, but the infield struggled today after Caleb Durbin got hurt. Suarez surrendered seven hits but just two hard-hit balls in the game. He fell one strikeout shy of matching his season high of nine strikeouts. His current 25 percent strikeout rate is up from 23 percent the last two years. Suarez will miss the Yankees in the four-game series at Fenway this weekend and face the Nationals on Monday.
