Hunter Greene struck out 12 batters over seven scoreless innings to pick up the win on Friday over the Cubs.

Greene couldn’t have asked for a much better outing in this one. After a disastrous first start of the season his last time out, the hard-throwing righty held the Cubs in check all night, allowing just three hits over seven scoreless frames. Greene was lights out for the Reds on Friday, needing just 93 pitches to get through this outing while limiting himself to just one walk. He’ll get some time off with the All-Star Break just around the corner, but hopefully this start signals a strong second-half of the season for him.

Greene’s velocity started out well tonight, but his 51 fastballs tonight produced one whiff on 21 swings and four hits, including a Samuel Basallo homer. It didn’t help that he went from averaging 100 mph in the first to 99 in the second and 98 in the third and fourth. At least he did get 14 whiffs with the slider and seven strikeouts overall. Greene will build endurance, but in his case, fastball shape has always been key to his success. Obviously, it’s not time to rush to judgment here when he’s really just four outings into his rehab. He’ll likely face the Cubs on Friday.

Greene returns to Cincinnati’s rotation after missing the first three months of the season recovering from surgery to remove bone chips and loose bodies from his pitching elbow. The hard-throwing 26-year-old fantasy ace shouldn’t have any workload restrictions in his long-awaited season debut after throwing 82 pitches over 6 1/3 innings during his final rehab start for Triple-A Louisville last weekend. He’s struggled to stay healthy since arriving in the majors a couple years ago, but delivered a phenomenal 2.76 ERA, 0.94 WHIP and 132/26 K/BB ratio across 107 2/3 innings last year, making him one of the more impactful arms in the fantasy landscape on a per-inning basis.

Greene returns to spearhead Cincinnati’s rotation after missing the first three months of the season recovering from surgery to remove bone chips and loose bodies from his pitching elbow back in early March. The flame-throwing 26-year-old’s velocity was where it needed to be and he threw 82 pitches over 6 1/3 innings during his final rehab start for Triple-A Louisville last weekend. Needless to say, he’ll provide the Reds with a massive injection of life heading into the second half and should make a similar impact for fantasy managers.

Greene will make his long-awaited season debut either Friday or Saturday against the Orioles. The hard-throwing 26-year-old fantasy ace got his pitch count up to 82 (54 strikes) across 6 1/3 innings during his final rehab outing for Triple-A Louisville over the weekend. His return should provide a massive jolt to Cincinnati’s rotation, and a big lift for fantasy managers as well. He’s been out since undergoing surgery to remove bone chips and loose bodies from his elbow back in early March.

Greene punched out four batters in the contest and did not allow a base on balls. He threw 82 pitches, 54 of them for strikes, while cruising through 6 1/3 innings. It’s safe to say that he looks ready to rejoin the Reds’ rotation next week.

Greene averaged 98.4 mph on his four-seam fastball and topped out at 99.5 mph during the 64-pitch outing. The flame-throwing 26-year-old fantasy ace remains on track to rejoin Cincinnati’s rotation before next month’s All-Star break. He’s been on the shelf since spring training when he underwent surgery to remove bone chips and loose bodies from his elbow back in early March. He’ll continue building up his pitch count and stamina with another rehab outing this weekend.

Greene struck out six over four shutout innings in his rehab debut in the Rookie-level Arizona Complex League last Thursday. The hard-throwing 26-year-old fantasy ace appears on track to make his season debut prior to next month’s All-Star break. He’s been out since spring training after undergoing surgery to remove bone chips and loose bodies from his elbow back in early March.

The 26-year-old right-hander has yet to pitch for the Reds this season after undergoing surgery in late March to remove bone chips and loose bodies from his elbow. He’s going to need several rehab starts before he’s ready to join the Reds’ rotation. Barring any setbacks though, we could see him debut before the All-Star break.

Greene remains without a definitive return timetable at this juncture in his rehabilitation from arthroscopic surgery to remove bone chips and loose bodies from his pitching elbow back in early March. However, he’s progressed to throwing bullpen sessions and could potentially make it back to Cincinnati’s rotation sometime around late June or early July. He’ll need a handful of rehab starts before he’s ready to make his season debut. There should be a clearer timeline once he’s cleared to make his first rehab start.

Greene progressed to throwing off a bullpen mound for the first time since undergoing arthroscopic surgery to remove bone chips and loose bodies from his pitching elbow back in early March. The hard-throwing 26-year-old ace figures to ramp-up his throwing program over the next few weeks before starting a rehab assignment. It seems reason able that he’ll be ready to make his season debut sometime around the All-Star break in mid-July.

Rays selected Fort Worth Christian High School (TX) SS Grady Emerson with the No. 2 selection of the 2026 MLB Draft.

Emerson started the year as the top prep bat in the class, and did nothing over his senior season to drop him from that spot. If anything, the 18-year-old has seen his stock rise while showing the potential to be a five-tool player. The best of these tools is a swing that is built to make hard contact to all parts of the field, and on top of a chance to hit for a high average, there’s 25-plus homer potential in his left-handed swing. He’s an above-average runner who should steal plenty of bags, and there’s nothing that suggests he won’t be able to play shortstop at the highest level. Emerson will need at least a little time in the minors before he can make an impact, but in terms of pure fantasy upside, no player in the class -- regardless -of level -- has a better chance of being a star.

Bo Bichette is out of the lineup for Saturday’s game against the Red Sox with leg soreness.

The Mets aren’t going to take any chances with the All-Star break looming at the conclusion of the weekend. Virtually every player is dealing with bumps and bruises at this juncture of the season. Bichette has delivered at the dish recently, hitting .309 (38-for-123) with five homers and 19 RBI over his last 30 games. There’s a decent chance he’s back for Sunday’s first-half finale. It’ll be Brett Baty taking over at the hot corner for the second straight contest.

Caleb Durbin is hitting cleanup on Saturday against the Mets.

Sure, why not. Durbin has been on a roll over the last few weeks, hitting .290 (27-for-93) with eight round-trippers in 26 games since a two-homer outburst back on June 10. He’ll get a chance in place of Romy Gonzalez, who is on the bench in this one, with Willson Contreras continuing to serve a five-game suspension through the All-Star break.

White Sox selected UCLA SS Roch Cholowsky with the No. 1 selection of the 2026 MLB Draft.

Cholowsky was one of the most productive hitters in college baseball in his time at UCLA, and finished his junior season with .320/.452/.686 slash along with 23 homers over 60 games with the Bruins. The 21-year-old has significant power from the right side, and while the hit tool projects slightly below his power, he makes enough hard contact with a solid approach to suggest he can hit for a solid average as well. The only thing Cholowsky isn’t projected to do offensively is steal bases, as he’s only swiped 14 bags in his three seasons in college. Despite that lack of speed he’s a terrific defender who does project to stick at shortstop. Cholowsky has tremendous upside, and he has a real chance to be the best player in the class.

Red Sox recalled LHP Eduardo Rivera from Triple-A Worcester.

Rivera draws the starting assignment for Saturday’s game against the Mets in place of an injured Ranger Suarez. The 23-year-old tossed 1 1/3 scoreless innings during a relief appearance for the Red Sox back on April 22. He’s posted a strong 2.44 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and 62/24 K/BB ratio across 48 innings at the Triple-A level this year. He’s an interesting young arm, but too risky to trust for fantasy purposes, despite a tasty road matchup against the Mets.

Red Sox optioned 3B Brett Harris to Triple-A Worcester.

Harris went 0-for-2 in his lone game with the Red Sox after being acquired from the Athletics in a trade earlier this week. His departure opens a roster spot for Eduardo Rivera to start Saturday’s game in place of an injured Ranger Suarez. He should return in a bench role later this month.

Zach Thornton is likely to start Sunday’s first-half finale against the Red Sox, according to The Athletic’s Will Sammon.

Thorton figures to draw the starting assignment instead of Kodai Senga and should factor into New York’s rotation plans down the home stretch, especially if they decide to move some pitching talent at the trade deadline in a couple weeks.

Tristan Peters has been added to the American League’s roster for the 2026 MLB All-Star Game.

Peters gets the call to Philadelphia alongside teammate Munetaka Murakami for next week’s Midsummer Classic as a replacement for an injured Nick Kurtz (thumb). The unheralded 26-year-old hit for the cycle during Friday’s blowout win over the Athletics and has been an unexpected revelation for the upstart White Sox, slashing .303/.357/.484 with six homers and five steals in 89 games. This is his first career All-Star Game selection. It comes just a few years after Peters played for the Savannah Bananas back in 2021. He’ll add some much-needed flair to the All-Star Game for the American League.

Edwin Díaz (elbow) will kick off a minor league rehab assignment on Saturday with Low-A Ontario.

Díaz remains on track to rejoin the Dodgers’ bullpen sometime after next week’s All-Star break, with Tanner Scott continuing to handle the ninth inning until then. The 32-year-old former All-Star closer has been sidelined since early April, when he underwent arthroscopic surgery to remove loose bodies from his elbow. He got off to a rocky start during his Los Angeles debut, but his track record suggests a return to form is well within reach, but only if his health cooperates. His fastball velocity and ability to generate swinging strikes during his rehab assignment will be the key indicators that fantasy managers need to closely monitor.
