Andrew Kittredge was handed a blown save after giving up a run and three hits in the ninth Saturday against the Rays.

Kittredge blew a save against his former team in the bottom of the ninth but then got a win after Rays closer Bryan Baker allowed the automatic runner to score in the 10th, resulting in a loss to his former team. Cam Sanders worked the bottom of the 10th and ended up with his second save in two days for the Orioles, though he’s still probably behind at least Yennier Cano and Kittredge on Baltimore’s closing depth chart. Cano had this one off after throwing 24 pitches last night.

Cam Sanders pitched 1/3 of an inning to pick up the save on Friday against the Rays.

Sanders took the mound in relief of Yennier Cano, who was in danger of blowing the 6-2 lead he entered the inning with. With the score sitting at 6-5 and runners on first and second, Sanders’ first pitch to Ryan Vilade found its way to left-center field and was secured by Leody Taveras for the fly-out and the win. We’ll go ahead and assume this will be the easiest save Sanders ever has in his career.

Baltimore will use an extra reliever until Chris Bassitt comes off the injured list later this week. Sanders has a 4.26 ERA, 1.11 WHIP, and 7/3 K/BB ratio in 6 1/3 innings at Triple-A Norfolk since joining the Orioles’ organization.

Sanders was with the big league club for just two games this time around, but he heads back to Triple-A to make room on the active roster for Sam Huff. Sanders has yet to allow a baserunner in two appearances with the O’s this season, hurling 1 2/3 scoreless frames with a pair of strikeouts. It shouldn’t take him long to earn another opportunity with the big league club.

Acquired on Monday for cash considerations, Sanders holds an 8.68 ERA in nine relief appearances so far in the bigs this year. The 28-year-old never actually pitched for Norfolk, but holds a 2.96 ERA in 24 1/3 innings (17 walks, 44 strikeouts) for Triple-A Indianapolis this year. He’ll work low leverage innings for the Orioles.

Sanders, the son of former Padres swingman Scott Sanders, had an 8.68 ERA in nine relief appearances for the Pirates this season before being DFA’d on Saturday. He offers ample strikeout ability with his mid-90s fastball and slider, but wildness has been a big issue throughout his pro career. He’ll head to Triple-A for now.

He has made five appearances with the Bucs this season, posting a woeful 10.80 ERA, 2.20 WHIP and a 7/5 K/BB ratio over five innings of work. He’ll function in a middle relief role.

Andy Pages is expected to miss 4-5 weeks with a fractured left hand suffered Friday, manager Dave Roberts said.

Pages had X-rays tonight after all. Roberts didn’t say how the Dodgers intend to replace Pages, but former Diamondbacks center fielder Alek Thomas seems like the obvious choice. He could come up and play against most righties, with Tommy Edman moving to center against lefties. That would free up some infield time for Kiké Hernández and Miguel Rojas.
