Orioles optioned RHP Cam Sanders to Triple-A Norfolk.

Sanders was with the big league club for just two games this time around, but he heads back to Triple-A to make room on the active roster for Sam Huff. Sanders has yet to allow a baserunner in two appearances with the O’s this season, hurling 1 2/3 scoreless frames with a pair of strikeouts. It shouldn’t take him long to earn another opportunity with the big league club.

Marlins placed RHP Max Meyer on the 15-day injured list, retroactive to July 19, with a neck strain.

It’s unclear how much time Meyer will miss after throwing just 74 pitches across three innings on Saturday against the Brewers. The 27-year-old emerging Marlins ace was outstanding during the first half, earning his first All-Star Game selection in the process. However, he’s already up to 111 innings, which is right around his previous career-high mark set back in 2024. It’s a tough break for Miami, and fantasy managers, but Meyer could probably use an extended break at this point in the year. There should be some clarity on his status in the coming days.

Diamondbacks optioned LHP Philip Abner to Triple-A Reno.

Padres recalled C Rodolfo Duran from Triple-A El Paso.

Duran provides San Diego with a decent replacement for Miguel Andujar after he suffered a fractured wrist. The 28-year-old backstop has hit .146 (12-for-82) with three homers and eight RBI in 36 games at the highest level this season.

Padres placed DH Miguel Andujar on the 10-day injured list with a right wrist fracture.

There’s a decent possibility Andujar is done for the rest of the season with just over two months left. The 31-year-old has hit .259 (62-for-239) with five homers and two steals in 74 games this season. He suffered the injury when he was hit by a pitch over the weekend. There is no timetable for his return.

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts told reporters Edwin Díaz (elbow) could potentially be activated later this week against the Mets.

It sounds like the plan is for Díaz to continue his rehab assignment this week, most likely with back-to-back outings, before returning to the back-end of Los
Angeles’ bullpen later this week. The 32-year-old closer is coming off surgery to remove loose bodies from his elbow back in early April.

Shohei Ohtani (knee) is scheduled to throw a bullpen session this weekend.

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts didn’t offer an update to Ohtani’s potential return timeline to pitching, but the fact that he’s making some strides with his throwing progression is an encouraging sign. The 32-year-old two-way star was scratched from his outing against Philadelphia after feeling discomfort while playing catch over the weekend. He’s likely to miss multiple turns through the rotation while dealing with left knee soreness. Clearly, the Dodgers aren’t going to take any risks that would prevent Ohtani from potentially pitching in the postseason. He remains in Los Angeles’ lineup at DH for Monday’s series opener against the Phillies.

Kyle Isbel (plantar fasciitis) will begin a minor league rehab assignment on Tuesday.

Isbel has been out with a Grade 3 plantar fasciitis tear since mid-June. The fact that he’s feeling well enough to get back into rehab games is a step in the right direction.

Tigers activated 2B Gleyber Torres from the 10-day injured list.

Torres returns to Detroit’s lineup for the first time since mid-June after missing five weeks with a left oblique strain. The 29-year-old second baseman has hit .280/.395/.395 with four homers and 18 RBI across 190 plate appearances this season. Basically he’s not really hitting for any over-the-fence power and the handful of stolen bases that he used to supply have dried up.

Tigers optioned C Eduardo Valencia to Triple-A Toledo.

Valencia heads back to the minors to make room for Gleyber Torres on Detroit’s active roster ahead of Monday’s contest against Chicago. The 26-year-old backstop hit .417 (5-for-12) with two homers and three RBI during six games with the Tigers in his first taste of the majors. He’ll be back at some point later this year.
