Reds designated LHP Kent Emanuel for assignment.

Emanuel has been jettisoned from Cincinnati’s 40-man roster in a procedural move after allowing two runs over five innings during a spot start against the Cardinals in the opening game of Monday’s doubleheader. The 34-year-old lefty figures to pass through waivers unclaimed and elect free agency.

JJ Wetherholt is back in the lineup for the second game of Monday’s doubleheader against the Reds.

Wetherholt is back at shortstop and leading off after sitting out the front-end of Monday’s twin bill at Great American Ball Park. The 23-year-old rookie sensation has struggled since last month’s All-Star break, hitting just .185 (20-for-108) with three homers and four steals in 29 games during that span. His return pushes electrifying top prospect Joshua Báez back to the fifth spot in the order for the nightcap affair.

Hunter Goodman (shoulder) is back in the lineup for Monday’s series opener against the Dodgers.

Fantasy manager can safely exhale with Goodman returning to Colorado’s lineup following a three-game absence due to shoulder inflammation. The 26-year-old slugging backstop has seemingly managed to avoid a trip to the injured list and will get a chance to face Dodgers lefty Blake Snell at Coors Field on Monday night. He’s delivered first-round fantasy value this season, slashing .251/.320/.541 with 69 runs scored, 34 home runs, 69 RBI and five steals in 460 plate appearances.

Trevor Story (abdomen) told reporters he could potentially return from the injured list later this week.

Story added that he’s feels fine from a physical standpoint after kicking off a minor league rehab assignment over the weekend. The 33-year-old veteran shortstop has missed the entirety of Boston’s remarkable midseason turnaround while recovering from sports hernia surgery. It sounds like he could return later this week after getting a few additional rehab games under his belt. Andruw Monasterio has done a remarkable job handling shortstop for the Red Sox over the last few weeks.
