Leo De Vries went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases on Sunday in the All-Star Futures Game at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia.

De Vries lead off the contest with a line-drive single to left field and immediately swiped second and third base before crossing the plate on a ground out from Franklin Arias. He struck out against lefty Cam Caminiti in his next at-bat to end the third before being lifted for a defensive replacement in the fourth. The 19-year-old shortstop was the centerpiece of the Mason Miller trade with the Padres last year and looks like a potential X-factor for the Athletics homegrown core alongside the likes of Nick Kurtz, Brent Rooker, Jacob Wilson, Lawrence Butler and Tyler Soderstrom.

Athletics SS prospect Leo De Vries is dealing with a right shoulder injury.

De Vries has been shut down from throwing for the next month and figures to miss the remainder of the minor league season. The 19-year-old prodigy has hit a robust .290/.378/.458 with 13 homers and 34 steals for Double-A Midland as one of the youngest hitters in the Texas League. He’s going to be an impactful fantasy contributor once he reaches the majors in the not-so-distant future.

Athletics SS prospect Leo De Vries is dealing with a finger injury, according to MLB.com’s Martín Gallegos.

Gallegos added that De Vries is not being promoted to the majors. There’s always rampant social media speculation when a top prospect is abruptly scratched from a lineup, which is what happened with De Vries at Double-A Midland on Wednesday night. The 19-year-old prodigy has a chance to be a real difference-maker for the Athletics after coming over as the crown jewel in the Mason Miller trade with the Padres last year. However, it would be extremely surprising if he were promoted in the final two months, especially with the Athletics fading from the playoff picture.

Mariners LHP prospect Kade Anderson has been named to the American League’s roster for the 2026 MLB All-Star Futures Game.

Anderson along with organization mate Ryan Sloan are both top ten prospects in all of baseball, according to MLB Pipeline, ranking fifth and eighth, respectively. They are the only teammates on the American League team both ranked inside the top 25 overall. They will be joined by Athletics SS Leo De Vries (MLB Pipeline’s number two prospect), Red Sox SS Franklin Arias (seventh-overall prospect), Rays outfielder Theo Gillen (ninth-ranked prospect), and many more. The 2026 Future Game will take place Sunday, July 12 at Noon ET on NBC.

Athletics reassigned SS Leo De Vries, LHPs Gage Jump and Matt Krook, C Chad Wallach, 3B Tommy White, 2B Michael Stefanic, OFs Cade Marlowe and Henry Bolte, RHPs Nick Hernandez, Brooks Kriske and Wander Suero to minor league camp.

De Vries put together an extremely impressive showing in Cactus League play, hitting .409 (18-for-44) with three homers and 11 RBI in 17 contests. The switch-hitting 19-year-old prodigy was the centerpiece of the Mason Miller blockbuster at the trade deadline last July and will open the minor league season at Double-A Midland. It wouldn’t be shocking at all if he reached the big leagues as a teenager in the second half. He’s one of the top 10 prospects in the entire fantasy landscape entering 2026.

Leo De Vries drove in six runs with a pair of homers in the Athletics’ 11-7 win over the Dodgers on Sunday.

The 19-year-old De Vries hit a two-run homer off Kyle Hurt in the fourth and a grand slam off Carson Hobbs an inning later. He’s a threat to make his major league debut before his 20th birthday, though there’s no way it’s happening on Opening Day. It’ll be interesting to see if the A’s start moving him around the infield if he hits in Double-A, since while he does project as a better shortstop than Jacob Wilson, the A’s might not be willing to have Wilson change positions midseason.

Leo De Vries exited Saturday’s game against the Giants due to stomach issues.

De Vries was treated for possible dehydration; something that happens to plenty of players in the hot sun of Arizona. The 19-year-old is expected to be ok, and should return to the lineup in the coming days. De Vries is an elite fantasy prospect who just might make his debut in 2026, although 2027 seems much more realistic.

The Athletics announced 31 non-roster invites spring training, including prized shortstop prospect Leo De Vries plus starting pitchers Gage Jump and Jamie Arnold.

De Vries was the centerpiece the Padres sent back to the A’s for Mason Miller last season and is considered one of the best prospects in baseball. It’s customary for top prospects to get an invite to major league spring training, especially when they’ve already reached Double-A like De Vries did last season. It’s unlikely the 19-year-old is ready to compete for a major league roster spot yet though. Of this trio, Jump has the best chance to reach the majors in 2026 after breaking out with a 3.28 ERA, 1.10 WHIP, and 131/34 K/BB ratio across 112 2/3 innings between High-A and Double-A last season.

According to The Athletic’s Ken Rosenthal, the A’s made Ha-Seong Kim a four-year offer to play second base that he turned down to re-sign with the Braves.

Kim would have been guaranteed just $48 million, though bonuses probably would have pushed his salaries higher. It’s interesting that the A’s were willing to make such a commitment to a middle infielder, given that Jacob Wilson is locked in and top prospect Leo De Vries, the primary return in the Mason Miller trade, might be ready in 2027. Still, the A’s probably ought to commit at least a one-year deal to a starter at second or third. Right now, they have Zack Gelof, Max Muncy, Max Schuemann, Darell Hernaiz, Brett Harris and Michael Stefanic as possibilities at those two spots.

De Vries became the first 18-year-old to record multiple home runs at the Double-A level since generational talent Bryce Harper accomplished the feat back in 2011, according to MLB Pipeline. The switch-hitting shortstop prodigy notched his third multi-homer performance of the season, accomplishing the feat for the first time at the Double-A level. He’s gone deep three times in his last six games and is slashing .275/.348/.513 with 10 extra-base hits in 19 games for Midland.

Athletics SS prospect Le De Vries went 4-for-5 with a solo homer on Saturday for Double-A Midland.

De Vries, the centerpiece of the Mason Miller trade with San Diego, will enter the offseason as a top-five dynasty prospect thanks to his tantalizing power/speed upside. The 18-year-old — the youngest player in Double-A — notched his first four-hit game there, capped by his first Texas League homer, after last recording a five-hit effort back in April at High-A. He’s hit some turbulence since the promotion but still owns 11 homers and 11 steals through 111 games across two levels.

Red Sox recalled C/1B Mickey Gasper from Triple-A Worcester

Gasper was just sent back to Triple-A on Sunday with Roman Anthony off the injured list, but he’s eligible to return to Boston because Willson Contreras (hamstring) is now going on the IL. Gasper has hit a solid .278/.374/.466 with five homers and 19 RBI in 156 plate appearances with the Red Sox. He’s starting at first base and batting second on Monday against the Mariners.

According to the Boston Globe’s Tim Healey, Contreras has been dealing with a hamstring issue for about a month. Between that and getting hit in the head against the Dodgers on August 1st, Contreras has slashed 217/.330/.386 since then. Perhaps a two-week reset will help the first baseman recapture some of his previous form before the end of the season.

Since Pham is not on the 40-man roster, he is eligible to be traded despite the fact that the trade deadline has passed. Pham is expected to join the White Sox when rosters expand on Tuesday. He was 0-for-13 in his brief stint with the Mets earlier this season, and hit .245/.330/.370 in 120 plate appearances for the Pirates last year.

The New York Post’s Joel Sherman reports that the Yankees are signing RHP John Schreiber.

Schreiber was waived by the Royals on Saturday and now joins a bullpen in the thick of the playoff race. The 32-year-old hurler holds a 3.72 ERA and 1.30 WHIP over 48 1/3 innings on the season, but that has come with a 4.54 SIERA and 4.52 xFIP. That being said, he is holding right-handed hitters to a .143 batting average and .231 slugging percentage, so he can be great against right-handed pockets.

This is a bit of a surprise. Robert is hitting well in August, slashing .267/.321/.520 with six home runs, 10 runs scored, and 11 RBI; however, the Orioles have been getting solid production from Dylan Beavers, Colton Cowser, and Leody Taveras in the outfield. Their DH spot has also been filled by Coby Mayo since Christian Encarnacion-Strand has emerged as the regular third baseman. Somebody who is playing well is going to be bumped from the starting lineup now, and you have to wonder if this is a sign that the Orioles plan to pick up Robert’s $20 million team option for 2027.

Peck spent most of this season at Double-A, hitting .285/.328/.511 in 58 games with 10 home runs, 19 steals, and a 64/14 K/BB ratio. He is 10-for-21 in his first six games at Triple-A with a home run, three RBI, and three steals. The 24-year-old is a strong defensive shortstop who can also play second base and third base. It remains to be seen what his role will be in Detroit.

Nationals manager Blake Butera said, “We’ll probably give him Monday off, then we’ll see from there,” so there is a strong chance that Wood will return to the Nationals lineup on Tuesday.
