Rob Refsnyder begins rehab assignment Saturday

DeLauter was forced to leave Friday’s game with the sprain, but Vogt doesn’t believe the 24-year-old is going to need to be placed on the injured list. There’s a good chance he’ll miss Saturday’s game and we’ve seen these things change quickly, but for now, it seems like DeLauter has avoided a serious injury.

Diaz’ home run was his 11th of the season. He hit a solo shot off Merrill Kelly in the third inning. Diaz hadn’t hit a home run since his two-homer game against the Yankees on August 25, a span of six games where he hit .211 with one RBI. He’s hitting .262 with a .719 OPS and 34 RBI.

Kelly gave up seven hits, walked none and struck out four. He fell to 9-13 with the loss. Kelly dominated the Giants for seven innings in his last start. He wasn’t quite as good against the Astros on Friday, though he still put up a quality start. Kelly has a 5.06 ERA. He’s lined up to face the Rangers at home next weekend.

Javier gave up one hit, walked three and struck out eight. He improved to 2-5 with the win. Javier hadn’t completed five innings in any of his last three starts. He’s not worth the trouble for fantasy managers in mixed leagues at this point. Javier will take a 5.98 ERA into his start against the Phillies next week.

Baker has been one of the most reliable closers in baseball, but the right-hander walked a pair of batters before exiting the game with a trainer. Tyler Wells converted the save after Baker exited. There should be an update on the 31-year-old’s status shortly.

Pasquantino’s home run was his 10th of the season. He hit a solo shot off Blue Jays reliever Michael Lorenzen in the ninth inning. Pasquantino’s .142 ISO is a career-low. He was 1-for-14 in his previous three games entering play Friday, so this home run doesn’t necessarily represent the start of him turning it around. Pasquantino is hitting .241 with a .710 OPS and 43 RBI.

Talk about taking over a game. Down two in the eighth, Bazzana socked a two-run shot to tie the game up. Then in the 10th, he laced a game-winning single to give the Guardians their second walk-off hit of the day during their double-header sweep against the Tigers. Funny enough, Bazzana didn’t even start this game with a left-handed pitcher on the mound, but came in when Chase DeLauter left with an injury. He’s had a rough second half with a .692 OPS and has lost some playing time, so it was nice to see him take a big step in the right direction.

Witt’s home run was his 17th of the season. He hit a solo shot off Jameson Taillon in the first inning. Witt hadn’t hit a home run since August 20 against the Athletics, a span of 12 games. He’s hitting .283 with an .812 OPS and 51 RBI.

Griffin was once again good rather than great here. The Tigers made him work hard in practically every inning and he was fortunate to escape two huge jams with just three runs on the board. He’s no longer spotting his cutter like he was earlier this season and without getting ahead in the count as often, his stuff is not good enough to consistently force swings-and-misses in the zone. He now has a 4.06 ERA through six starts since being traded to the Guardians and is scheduled to face the Orioles on the road next time out.

A perfect table-setter, Torres reached base three times out of the lead-off spot and scored two of the Tigers three runs. He’s been a great source of counting stats this season with 49 runs scored and 36 RBI through just 83 games, but only has eight home runs and has not stolen a single base.
