Zack Littell allowed one earned run over five innings while striking out five, picking up the loss on Friday against the Diamondbacks.

Littell took over for Carson Palmquist, who allowed two earned runs over 1 1/3 innings of work. While two runs were charged to Palmquist, it was Littell who gave up the hits that allowed both runs to cross, and it was the sacrifice fly he allowed to Gabriel Moreno in the seventh inning that proved to be the difference-maker. Littell’s outing was far better than the eight earned runs he allowed last week against the A’s, and he’s now allowed one earned run in three of his last four games. He’s set to take the mound next on Wednesday at home against the Blue Jays.

Brewers activated INF Cooper Pratt from the 10-day injured list.

Pratt missed the minimum 10 days with his hamstring strain. His return will push Joey Ortiz back over to third base to split time with David Hamilton. Jonathan Ornelas sticks around for now, but he’ll probably be dropped once Sal Frelick is activated.

Alejandro Kirk is DHing tonight. Springer, who went 3-for-4 with a double and a steal against the Rays last night, hasn’t started more than two games in a row in nearly two weeks now and there have been times when it’s looked like he’s playing at considerably less than 100 percent.

Guardians recalled C/OF David Fry from Triple-A Columbus.

Fry hit six homers in his eight games with Columbus, so whether Rhys Hoskins is actually hurt or not, bringing Fry back to the majors seemed like a good idea. Alas, he’s not starting against the left-handed Matt Wilkinson tonight, for some reason.
