Chase DeLauter hits 12th home run in loss Saturday

Perdomo’s home run was his ninth of the year. He hit a solo shot off Guardians reliever Hunter Gaddis in the seventh inning. Perdomo has six hits in his last two games. He’s hitting .238 with a .721 OPS and 41 RBI this year.

DeLauter’s home run was his 12th of the season. He hit a solo shot off Diamondbacks reliever Paul Seawald in the eighth inning. DeLauter’s home run was his first since July 12, a span of 13 games. He’s hitting .276 with a .785 OPS and 52 RBI.

Messick gave up six hits, walked one and struck out six. He cruised through the first four innings before running into trouble in the fifth inning. Messick struck out James McCann to start the fifth inning, but allowed three consecutive singles before he was removed. A throwing error by Rhys Hoskins accounted for the unearned run. Messick has a 2.57 ERA. He’s lined up to face the White Sox on the road next Friday.

Assuming that he’s not traded before then, Arraez apparently will play second base against the Padres. He left Friday’s game and didn’t play Saturday because of leg cramps.

Drake gave up five hits, walked one and struck out six. Making just his third major league start, Drake was solid in his four innings. He allowed two runs, but struck out six batters. Drake isn’t quite a recommended fantasy starter, but this was a step in the right direction. He’s lined up to face the Padres at home on Thursday.

Miller apparently was hurt after entering the game in the eighth, but he was still throwing smoke in the ninth. It doesn’t look like it’ll turn into any sort of significant issue.

Bolte’s homer was a three-run shot that cut the Tigers’ lead in half to 8-5. The 22-year-old also doubled and singled in one of his best games an MLB player thus far. The power production has been middle in his .350 slugging percentage, but a .257 average and .340 on-base percentage to pair with it is nothing to sneeze at.

On a night where Max Clark hit his first homer — and a night where the Tigers also traded away Tarik Skubal — McGonigle also showed out, as he has done for the majority of his rookie campaign. The 21-year-old hit a leadoff roundtripper off Jack Perkins to give Detroit an early 1-0 advantage, and it’s the 11th homer of the campaign. McGonigle also drew a walk, and a run-scoring single gave him a four-reach game while increasing his RBI total to 41. McGonigle has been fantastic in 2026, and there’s plenty of reasons to think he hasn’t reached anything close to his ceiling just yet. Even if this is it, it’s pretty dan good.

Contreras left Friday’s game after being hit on the back of the helmet by a pitch, but he seems to have cleared concussion protocol, and it looks like he’ll miss just the one full contest.

Abbott gave up three hits, walked five and struck out one. He fell to 5-7 with the loss. A year after Abbott put up a 2.87 ERA, he predictably regressed and has a 3.91 ERA in 23 starts this year. He’s lined up to face the Nationals on the road on Friday.
