    Endy Rodríguez swats seventh homer in loss

    Endy Rodríguez went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run on Wednesday against the Brewers.

    Rodríguez was the Pirates’ offense in this one. His two-run shot in the seventh accounted for their only two runs and came one inning after they snapped a stretch where nine consecutive batters struck out. As for Rodríguez, he’s now homered in consecutive games and has gone 9-for-30 with two home runs and four stolen bases in eight games since coming off the injured list.

    Manager Blake Butera indicated that Wood wouldn’t require a rehab assignment before rejoining the Nationals. If he’s still feeling good tomorrow after the BP session, it probably won’t be long before he’s activated.

    Early might come off the IL to make an appearance or two at the end of the year. He presumably won’t be fully built up for five- or six-inning starts.

    Angels activated OF Wade Meckler from the seven-day concussion injured list.

    Back after missing the minimum, Meckler is starting in left field and batting third tonight against the Phillies. He hit .231/.310/.250 with no RBI in the 14 games before getting hurt on a HBP.

    Abner Uribe will continue his rehab in the minors for at least one more outing.

    Uribe, on the IL with a mild flexor strain, will work again tonight after having some issues following his scoreless inning for High-A Wisconsin on Tuesday. “He didn’t feel great the next day,” manager Pat Murphy said.

    The Red Sox won’t activate either Roman Anthony or Trevor Story prior to Sunday, interim manager Chad Tracy said.

    Both are slated to play in games for Triple-A Worcester on Saturday, so they won’t be back for Boston’s doubleheader against the Yankees. Anthony is 4-for-12 with a homer in three games for Worcester after going 3-for-14 with a homer in four games for Double-A Portland.
