Andrés Chaparro plates two as Nationals top Reds

The 27-year-old left-hander will take a 4.01 ERA, 1.24 WHIP, and a 94/34 K/BB ratio across 103 1/3 innings into a start against the Cardinals in Milwaukee on Friday.

Rogers struck out two batters in a clean first inning, then gave up a triple on what should have been a routine fly ball before the Brewers brought a run in on a groundout. He recovered with six more scoreless frames, ending his day with ten strikeouts over eight innings while taking a tough-luck loss with zero run support. The 28-year-old left-hander will take a 4.07 ERA, 1.18 WHIP, and a 153/39 K/BB ratio across 165 2/3 innings into a start against the Yankees in New York on Friday.

It’s not yet decided whether Sasaki will start or be used as a bulk guy. Sasaki has been on the IL since Aug. 27 with a finger blister.

Snell left Wednesday’s game with groin tightness. It looks like he’ll be limited to one tuneup appearance prior to the postseason.
