Cole Young knocks in five as Mariners decimate A’s

Wow. Devers has been the hottest hitter on the planet and has been carrying fantasy offenses in the second half of the season. He slugged his 37th home run of the season on Saturday night. Apparently he has been playing through the injury for a while now though and the Giants thought it was best to shut him down. He’ll head for further evaluation on Monday to determine the next steps. It’s a tough break for fantasy managers who now need to scramble for a replacement for the final two weeks of the season.

It’s the first trip to the big leagues for the 25-year-old outfielder. Bandura was a seventh-round selection of the Giants from the 2023 draft class. He has had an outstanding 2026 season across two minor league levels, slashing a robust .320/.407/.488 with 13 homers, 94 RBI and 34 stolen bases in 604 plate appearances. His speed could make him an interesting streaming option in deeper mixed leagues.

Lovullo also noted that veteran right-hander Zac Gallen will be moved to the team’s bullpen to free up a spot in the rotation for Soroka. The 29-year-old hurler has pitched well in 19 appearances (18 starts) this season, posting a 3.53 ERA, 1.16 WHIP and a 95/25 K/BB ratio over 99 1/3 innings of work.

Greene got the Tigers on the board with a 365-foot (101.7-mph EV) opposite-field two-run shot in the home half of the first inning, putting the Tigers ahead to stay. He also added an RBI single in the fourth inning. He has been sizzling at the dish since his return from the injured list and is now slashing .283/.370/.484 with 20 homers and 71 RBI in 540 plate appearances on the season.

Torkelson tagged Rockies’ right-hander Nick Frasso for a 389-foot (102.9-mph EV) solo shot in the fifth inning that extended the Tigers’ lead to 8-1. He also reached on an infield single in the contest. With his two-hit attack, the 27-year-old slugger is now hitting .222/.314/.412 with 23 long balls and 68 RBI in his 562 plate appearances.

The 22-year-old phenom did his damage off of Gabriel Hughes in the second inning, increasing the Tigers’ early lead to 5-0. He also walked in the fourth inning and scored on an RBI single off the bat of Riley Greene. He’s having an exceptional rookie season, slashing .272/.373/.425 with 17 homers, 65 RBI, 12 stolen bases and an 89/88 K/BB ratio over 649 plate appearances.

The 24-year-old righty scattered just three hits and one walk in the impressive outing. The only blemish on his day came on a solo blast off the bat of Adael Amador in the top half of the first inning. After that, he was in complete command. Jobe generated 16 swings and misses on 87 pitches on the day, posting a strong CSW of 34 percent. He’ll look to replicate this effort when he brings a 3.89 ERA, 1.27 WHIP and a 34/13 K/BB ratio (34 2/3 innings) into Friday’s matchup against the White Sox in Chicago.

Amador got his club on the board first with a 394-foot (102.3-mph) solo shot off of Jackson Jobe in the top half of the first inning. That would be the extent of their offense. It was also Amador’s only hit in four at-bats. For the season, the 23-year-old is now slashing .326/.404/.652 with four homers and 12 RBI in his first 52 plate appearances with the Rockies.

The right-hander also issued two free passes on the afternoon while striking out a pair. The Tigers got to him for two runs in the opening frame on a two-run blast by Riley Greene. They then piled on with three more in the second to take a commanding early lead. Hughes got six swings and misses on 70 pitches on the day, posting a CSW of 23 percent. Now 0-8 on the season, he’ll carry a miserable 6.37 ERA and 1.45 WHIP into Friday’s start against the Mariners.

Estes has been hammered for an 11.05 ERA and 1.91 WHIP over 7 1/3 frames in his two appearances with the Athletics this season. Drew Rom was recalled from Triple-A Las Vegas to take his place in the A’s bullpen on Sunday.
